What are Timmons, Duncan, Norman doing?
This letter primarily concerns S.C. Congressmen William Timmons, Jeff Duncan, and Ralph Norman.
I’m hoping that others will call their offices and effect a change in policy. My main point is actually a question: What are they doing?
They voted to impeach the DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for following the law! He spent weeks with a bipartisan group of senators hammering out a border security bill. Then House Speaker Mike Johnson says, “Donald (Trump) told me not to bring it to a vote,” so in order to show that it is doing “something,” Congress impeaches Mayorkas for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
What was this heinous crime? Did he take a bribe, enrich his friends through his position, blackmail someone at the border? No, the “high crime” was following the law.
So because Trump didn’t want a border bill that checked almost every box on our congressmen's wish list, the Senate threw Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford (a conservative’s conservative) under the bus. The Senate then passed a funding bill for Israeli, Ukrainian, and Taiwanese aid. But Johnson says he won’t bring it to the floor because it doesn’t have anything about the border in it.
WHAT THE WHAHAAAAT??
Our lawmakers' response? Crickets. Nothing.
They might have told us they were going to Washington to “fight for us.” Well, OK. Fight for us! Call Rep. Jim Clyburn, get a few friends who got voted in a Biden district and run a discharge petition. (Look it up on Google, folks.)
Some might think, “We don’t need to send money to Ukraine; they’re probably going to lose!” Boy, I’m sure glad France didn’t think that in 1778, almost a year and a half after the Declaration of Independence was signed.
But think about this: Where do you think the weapons are being made? Does Ukraine have this massive war machine and all it lacks is money?
NO. The weapons are being made HERE, employing Americans. Shops are working three shifts; we have a wartime economy and no war we’re fighting.
As in 1940, we are the "Arsenal of Democracy." History is watching. The last of the Greatest Generation is watching. Our ancestors are calling.
Duncan, Norman, Timmons: Are you going to answer?
