How many South Carolina football players were picked in 2024 NFL draft? See every selection
COLUMBIA — South Carolina football added to its list of draft picks during the 2024 NFL draft in Detroit.
Wide receiver Xavier Legette was the last pick of the first round, selected by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night. After no Friday selections, quarterback Spencer Rattler was drafted in the fifth round, with the 150th pick by the New Orleans Saints and CB Marcellas Dial was selected in the sixth round, with the 180th pick by the New England Patriots on Saturday. Offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo was the second to last pick of the entire draft, as he went No. 256 to the Denver Broncos.
Rattler became the first quarterback drafted out of South Carolina since 1990 with Todd Ellis.
South Carolina had five players invited to the NFL combine: Rattler, Legette, Dial, Gargiulo, tight end Trey Knox and Dial. Edge rusher Jordan Strachan will look to land with an NFL team despite missing a combine invite.
Last year, five Gamecocks were drafted, beginning with Cam Smith who was the No. 51 pick in the second round. It was the largest number of Gamecocks drafted under coach Shane Beamer since he took over the program in 2021. Three Gamecocks were drafted in 2022.
Jaycee Horn, who was the eighth overall pick in 2021, is the Gamecocks' highest draft pick since 2014, when Jadeveon Clowney was selected No. 1 overall.
