It’s all about the arts this weekend, as Artisphere takes over downtown Greenville. This three-day festival is loaded with free fun for kids and families. Park Hop opens May 10 – Park Hop is a free, summer long scavenger hunt at park and recreation venues throughout Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. This scavenger hunt encourages children and families to discover featured parks throughout the summer while searching for answers to clues within each park. Mini Makers: Campfire Friends for ages 2 – 5 is 9 – 10 a.m. May 11 at TR Makers Co. Explore the five imagination stations and participate in making an art creation that has been tailored for this specific topic. Each of the stations and activities helps to build on the four core goals of the Mini Makers program, which includes encouraging creative play, social interactions and community building, educational development, along with developing fine and gross motor skills. The Greenville Downtown Airport’s (GMU) 11th Annual Take Flight 5K and 1-mile race is 7:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. May 25 in front of Runway Park. This unique event is a fundraiser for Runway Park and GMU’s Community Corridor, with 100 percent of the donations going back to the community. Fun is mandatory, costumes and teams are encouraged. Curious George: Let’s Get Curious! opens May 25 at the Upcountry History Museum.
