Sometimes the simplest inspiration is the most profound. In this case, it’s soothing shades of blue that make this both designer Robbie Randolph and his client's favorite room.

Playing off a love of the ocean, Robbie enveloped the space in serene blue and comforting textures. The large mirror, another favorite piece of this room, adds a touch of glamour and expands the space.

When designing the room Robbie kept his client's primary goals in focus – she wanted a comfortable place to read while her husband lounged in bed to watch his favorite programs.

A custom Jonathan Adler chaise met this need and also added an interesting element. The only blues here are the ones designed by Robbie.

3 Tips to Recreate This Look:

  • Pick a statement color and go with it.  The blue was carried through the art, wallpaper, and bedding.
  • Spend money on the things that matter, like statement wallpaper and quality furniture. Spend less by using bedding from Ballard Designs or Pottery Barn, instead of custom bedding.
  • Make sure to spend time thinking about how you would like to use the room, rather than how you have always done it in the past. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
